When you are waiting in front of a theatre or at the train terminal, you will realize how important punctuality is. Punctuality is really a virtue, especially in a modern life; also it is an important constituent of good character.A punctual person is in the habit of doing things at proper time in a planned way and is always keeping his appointment. He knows that if he wants to succeed in his work and society he must observe regular or appointed time.

A person who is always on time for his appointments shows real consideration for others. A person who is always late shows selfishness and thoughtlessness, and he is not a person that most people want for a friend. One of the most important social graces in the American society is punctuality which means arriving on time. Most people consider it discourteous for a person to arrive at an appointment later than the time agreed on. Also, for most social engagements, especially those in a private home, it often causes inconvenience for a guest to come either earlier or later than the suggested hour. A few minutes' delay may not be a serious matter, but it may have bad results. Getting up ten minutes later than usual may upset the plan of the day. Calling on a friend five minutes later than the appointed time may cause him some unexpected trouble. One delay after another makes a man unable to exert himself. It also proves himto be untrustworthy.

In a word, unpunctuality is very harmful. Friends sometimes grow cold to wards each other, or even become enemies, because one of them has been remiss in keeping appointments. Imagine how it would be if those who are entrusted with important tasks failed to be at their proper place at the appointed time. A man who is known to be habitually unpunctual is never trusted by his friends, his classmates or colleagues.

I am a serious person, so I am punctual for everything. For me, there is no thing that I have missed.

But, sometime punctuality is not suitable. If a girl tell you to wait for her at 6 o'clock at their dorm gate, you could not believe it, because usually she must be late at least 20minutes in order to dress her up. So if you come there too early, you would wait for her, but on the other hand, she will know you are a punctual person,hah…

To be or not to be punctual is a habit. We often fail to appreciate the influence of habit in our life. Habit is working for or against us every minute of the day. It has much to do with our future. So when we are young, we should try to be punctual every time and never be late, for the habit ismuch easier to acquire in youth than when we are older.

    There is a proverb which says, "There is a time for everything." This is true. In fact time is life itself, and the man who really has a great deal to do is very careful of his time and is no doubt fond of punctuality. We should pay much attention to it and make much effort to cultivate this good habit so that we may have a strong sense of punctuality and do whatever we are supposed to do on time.
